Vine is a mobile app owned by Twitter that enables its users to create and post short video clips. The service was introduced with a maximum clip length of six seconds[1][2][3][4][5] and can be shared or embedded on social networking services such as Twitter (which acquired the app in October 2012) and Facebook.[6][7] Though Vine was initially available only for iOS devices, Twitter had been working on bringing the app to other platforms; Vine for Android was released on June 3, 2013 for devices with Android version 4.0 or higher.[8][9] The Windows Phone 8 and Windows 8 version of the Vine app was also unveiled during the Microsoft 2013 Build Conference.[10]
