Seit ein paar Tagen ist sie aktiv geschaltet und der Aufschrei in der Community teilweise sehr gross. Die automatische Gesichtserkennung ist ein Feature, welches das Markieren von Bildern vereinfachen soll. Hierzu schlägt Facebook beim Hochladen von Bildern auf Basis einer Gesichtserkennung "Freunde"Namen automatisch vor. Was passiert? Werden Bilder ins Netzwerk hoch geladen, so werden die Gesichter auf diesen Fotos automatisch mit bereits vorhandenen und markierten Bildern im Album des jeweiligen Nutzers abgeglichen und es werden automatisch Vorschläge gemacht, um welche Freunde aus der Kontaktliste es sich auf dem Foto handeln könnte.Facebook vertritt die Ansicht: sie wollen mit der Gesichtserkennung das Markieren von Freunden auf Fotos erheblich erleichtern.Was viele wohl am meisten stören wird ist, dass Facebook diese Neuerung ohne vorherige Ankündigung frei geschaltet hat. Natürlich kann diese Funktion deaktiviert werden, in der Privatsphäre-Einstellung. Jedoch, da nur "nebenbei" über die Neuerung informiert wird, werden sicherlich viele dieses neue Feature erstmal gar nicht realisieren.
